CC83 : Hearing the call of the universe
So, by now you know I’m a Vegan and a real advocate for harmony on this planet and the way I see it… our food is one way to get there! Now….. I get that we are all different and I also get that there are other views, beliefs and of course, diet choices out there and I wanted to explore them for myself as well as for YOU!! So, given that just about everyone I meet is talking about Paleo I thought I’d bring you America’s most educated woman on the subject….. The Paleoista herself ….. Nell Stephenson!!
When you watch this episode, you will be totally taken aback by this brilliant woman’s desire to educate the world on the benefits of eating Paleo! Remarkably I found incredible synergies between our beliefs even though our food choices differ. Nell Stephenson is the regular diet advisor on Dr. Oz, the co-author of the Paleo Diet Cook Book with Dr Loren Cordain and the author of her own personal memoirs and diet plan, Paleoista (check it out below….. I think it’s an awesome resource if you’re a meat eater and keen to loose weight and feel great!).
This interview is an astounding insight into the present short-comings of our medical model and how one woman was able to heal herself and become a ferocious voice for health across the country and now, internationally, supporting the Paleo movement! This is just the beginning of our relationship with Nell Stephenson so get ready to be validated, excited, informed and inspired as she opens the doors to a new way of looking at food, diet, weight-loss, health and well being for meat eaters!

Thanks for a great show. I would love those books to help my family get back our health. I have always been a whole foods advocate and did 3 courses 10 years ago with a medicinal nutritionist. I have never however followed a paleo regime and being Italian continued to use legumes and other grains in our diet. I have always been very vocal about the fact that we as a society are not prioritising food on our lives and in what we feed our children. Through this passion I have upset many parents who continue to fees their kids processed foods and as Nell mentioned when you are so passionate you can turn people away. And here’s the irony . I have a little boy aged 10 who suffered from sugar addiction and a weight problem dispute the fact I have always fed my family while foods. We are all io the same page that health and vitality are the springboard for everything else in our lives and I shall continue to share my experiences while creating a lifestyle based on ‘slow eating’, not only to help my son, but for all of us. Thanks again Carren.
OMG I am obsessed with learning all things diet related and truly believe that diet (alongside lifestyle) is the key to almost all illness. I cured myself naturally of cancer (with a lot of natural therapists to help along the way) and am absolutely passionate about this. As a result I know I have pushed friends away but it is so important to me that sometimes that is inevitable. I have also found that some of these friends come back to me when they have a realisation that things have to change. I know that not everyone is on the same path or at the same place in their journey as me and I’m OK with that too. Thanks so much for this episode Carren, it is so important that people chose a diet that works well for them and paleo is becoming popular for a big reason – it makes a lot of people feel good! Simple! I would absolutely love to win Nell’s book, she is a wealth of knowledge.
Great show. Nell Stephenson makes a lot of sense. I changed my diet to Paleo 3 months ago after researching autoimmune diseases. I too have been on a similar journey (vegetarian for a few years, gluten free for years, dairy free and then sugar free) and always feeling sick. In the past 3 months since changing to Paleo my autoimmune disease has gone into remission (after 10 years), my sugar levels are normal, my fluid retention has gone, my swelling has gone down; I am medication free and I now weigh 52 kilos (a loss of over 15 kilos in 3 months). This diet really works. I would love to win the cookbook that Nell has written with Dr Cordain as I would love to try some new recipes and share these with the Sunshine Coast Paleo support group I am a part of.
Hi Carren,
You inspire me everyday 🙂 I heard about your new project on the Up for a Chat podcast. I have been sitting in front of my computer and I’ve watched all 4 of the Carren’s Couch episodes. I am delighted!! I love what you are doing. I love your message and I want you to know that you inspired me. Thank you. I look forward to watching more episodes as they come up.
Kindest regards,
